From their [http://www.mcgahanlees.com/ web site]:

:The McGahan Lees Irish Dance Academy is based in Chelmsford, England, and holds classes in Colchester, Braintree, Chelmsford, Basildon, Brentwood and Billericay (all Essex), and Gravesend and Stone (Kent). The Academy is run by Frances McGahan, A.D.C.R.G., an experienced and qualified teacher and adjudicator registered with An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha -- one of the governing bodies of Irish dance.

:The Academy was born in 1996 when Frances gave up her job in London to launch herself into the less certain world of Irish dance teaching. Frances is assisted whenever possible by husband Guy, who has a full-time day job of his own.

:From small beginnings, Frances has built up a thriving and successful school. Although the Academy is one of the younger Irish dance schools, Frances now has regular championship winners, a number of regional champions, and a host of dancers who compete at international level. Frances achieved a major goal in 2004, when she took her adjudicator's examination. She passed with flying colours, changing from Frances McGahan T.C.R.G. to Frances McGahan A.D.C.R.G.

You can ''italicize text'' by putting 2

3 apostrophes will bold '''the text'''.

5 apostrophes will bold and italicize
'''''the text'''''.

(Using 4 apostrophes doesn't do anything special -- there are just '''' left over ones'''' that are included as part of the text.)
A single newline
generally has no effect on the layout.
These can be used to separate
sentences within a paragraph.
Some editors find that this aids editing
and improves the ''diff'' function
(used internally to compare
different versions of a page).

But an empty line
starts a new paragraph.

When used in a list, a newline ''does'' affect the layout ([[#lists|see below]]).
===Templates===

'''[[Help:Template|Templates]]''' are segments of Wiki markup that are meant to be copied automatically ("transcluded") into a page.
You add them by putting the template's name in <nowiki>{{double braces}}</nowiki>. It is also possible to transclude other pages by using <nowiki>{{:colon and double braces}}</nowiki>.

Some templates take ''parameters'', as well, which you separate with the pipe character.

The Irish Dance Wiki is intended to be a repository of information for people who love Irish dance in all its forms as dancers, musicians or just spectators.

As you'll no doubt notice there's not a lot of information here at the moment and since you've found the wiki this shows you may be just the right person to help add more details since its existence hasn't been formally announced yet!
Feel free to add any link or article that can be related directly back to Irish dance. The wiki is completely open for editing and will remain that way as long as everyone behaves.

When adding links to other pages please do not simply rip off other link pages. There are a ton of dead links on pages that search engines like Google will return as authoritative sources. Make sure the link works before adding it here.

If you're new to editing wiki pages, play around in the [[sandbox]]. That page is free for editing at will and is also a source of instructions on wiki tags.

When editing pages please prefer adding information to existing pages whenever possible. If you're adding a completely new category a new page is appropriate. As pages grow we'll break out information into their own pages.
If you quote information on the web provide a link back to the source. If you quote information off-web make sure you provide full attribution.

<blockquote>
Set dances, sometimes called "country sets", are a popular form of folk dancing in Ireland. Set dances are based on quadrilles. The latter were court dances which were transformed by the Irish into a unique characteristic of Irish rural communities. A combination of Céilí dance and Rock and Roll in the 1950s caused many sets and set dances to die out. In the 1980s a revival started and many sets that have not been done for forty years or more are still being recovered and danced again.
<blockquote>
(IPA pronunciation:keɪli) dances vary widely throughout Ireland and the rest of the world. A céilí dance may be performed with as few as three people and as many as sixteen. Ceili dances may also be danced with an unlimited number of couples in a long line or proceeding around in a circle (Such as in Shoe the Donkey or the Gay Gordons). Céilí dances are often fast-paced and may be quite complicated. In a social setting, a céilí dance may be "called" -- that is, the upcoming steps are announced during the dance for the benefit of newcomers.

The name céilí dance was invented in the late 19th century by the Gaelic League, to distinguish non-quadrille dances from the quadrille-based set dances, which were thought to be a British or foreign influence in Ireland. Today, céili dancing is rarely performed in the Republic of Ireland but is active in Northern Ireland and the U.S.
