From the Colorado/South Dakota Website [1]:
Irish step dancing combines the entrancing rhythms of traditional Celtic music with the grace and energy of dance. Instruction centers on the fundamentals of traditional Irish dance — timing, body position, and footwork. Students work to achieve these fundamentals as they learn the basic steps, then progress to learn beginner reel, light jig, and slip jig steps. Building confidence, social, and team skills, students learn to dance in teams of two, three, four, six, and eight and sixteen. Students learn to dance in unison, developing spatial awareness as they dance the patterns of traditional ceili dances. Hard shoe dancing, popularized by Lord of the Dance, is usually taught to second and third-year students. The unique rhythms of hornpipe and double jig music drive the steps and timing of these dances. Students also learn one or more of the Traditional Set Dances…dances designated by the Irish Commission which are dances to the same music and employ the same steps the world over.
From the Arizona/New Mexico (previously Tir Conaill) website [2]:
One of the largest and most successful Irish dance schools in the United States, Celtic Steps has achieved a superior standard in Irish Dancing. Over the last 15 years, students have enjoyed major success both in competition and in performance. CS has won innumerable regional championships, national championships, and has placed first in the world in figure choreography. Many of the dancers have pursued successful performance careers, including joining the cast of Lord of the Dance, Riverdance and Heartbeat of Home, among others. Celtic Steps creates this level of excellence and achievement through hard work, high standards and positive energy.
